Rename It! Pro Release 10 is Now available!

Release 10 of Rename It! Pro is now available in the Windows 8 Store! This update brings a couple of key bug fixes, as well as some new functionality to the Index section. You can now choose if you want to normalize the index of a list of files.

What this means is that if you have 100 files, the index can be 001, 002, 003....099, 100. Previously it was only able to do this up to 10. Without normalization, the indexes will be 01, 02, 03,...99, 100. This is how it has operated previously and is still available to you. No functionality has been remove...only added!

Rename It! Pro Release 9 Now Available

Another update has been approved by Microsoft and should be available in the Windows Store today! This update adds the ability to select what action to take if a naming conflict occurs during the renaming process. This should resolve the issue of accidently overwriting files that could possibly occur.

Rename It! Pro Release 8 submitted to the Windows Store

Update 4/4/2013: This release has been certified and should be showing up in the Windows Store today!
-------------------------------------------------

Rename It! Pro has been doing well in the Windows Store, and I'm glad that many of you are enjoying its functionality! Brought to my attention today was a bug which could cause many files to be renamed the same thing. This could cause your files to be lost, and so I always recommend using the preview feature to make sure that this doesn't happen to you! This most commonly occurs when selecting to remove the entire file name, and selecting to use an Index without also selecting the "Add to Front" option.

As soon as I heard about this I tracked down the problem and submitted a fix to the store. Hopefully it will be approved and show up quickly! Bug fixes are always top priority. Also when using this program, if you have suggestions on how to improve it please let me know!

Support

Hello everyone,

I've gotten some great feedback on Rename It! Pro and I'm glad you are finding it useful. Please remember to E-mail me first if you have any technical issues, as I can not contact you to figure out the problem from just leaving bad reviews. There are lots of people who use this software and if one person has a particular problem, I need to find out why it happened so I can get it working for you. If everyone had the same problem as you, there would be a lot more bad reviews. I fix problems I hear about quickly but I need your help to figure out why they happen sometimes.

Thank you!

Latest release available in the Windows App Store!

The latest release is now available in the store! It was actually released on 12/28/2012 but this blog was just started today.

This version includes a few bug fixes so if you were experiencing odd behavior with certain functions, this update may help.

New to this version is the ability to preview all of the changes that will be made to your file names before you accept them. This can certainly come in handy when you are dealing with very large numbers of files.

Also new is support for regular expressions! This is an advanced feature that may not make sense to the average user, but if you do some research online you can find some very cool ways to change your names to anything you want with minimal time required. Here is a good site to start the learning process: http://www.regular-expressions.info/examples.html

Keep up the feature requests! I am always looking for the next set of features to add.

Welcome!

Welcome to the development blog for Rename It! Pro.

This blog will be used to keep you up to date with what is happening, as well as give you, the users, a chance to give me feedback regarding the features you want to see added next, or to help resolve any issues you may be having with the app. Please e-mail me with any feedback you may have, as a lot of requested features have been added very quickly. I just may not always be aware that certain functionality is desired unless you tell me! This app started off with just the capabilities that I use personally, and since then it has evolved quite a bit based on feedback from others.  I look forward to hearing how I can improve it.
